Agreement to terms

By accessing Texas Local Weekly’s website, subscribing to our newsletters, creating an account, buying a membership, or using any related services (collectively, the “Services”), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information.

Who we are

The Services are operated by Texas Local Weekly LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”). These terms apply to visitors, subscribers, and members in the United States unless we say otherwise.

Newsletters

When you subscribe to a newsletter, you agree to receive email from us at the address you provide. You may unsubscribe at any time using the link in any newsletter email or by contacting us. Unsubscribing from a newsletter does not cancel a paid membership.

Accounts

You must be at least 18 years old to buy a membership, and at least 13 to create an account. You agree to provide accurate information, keep it up to date, and keep your password secure. You are responsible for activity under your account, and you may not share your login with others. Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without permission.

Memberships

What you get

A membership gives you full access to articles and member features for the city you choose. Each city is a separate membership, billed separately, and a membership to one city does not unlock another. We may change the features and content included in a membership over time.

Automatic renewal

Memberships renew automatically until you cancel. Monthly memberships renew every month and annual memberships renew every year. By buying a membership, you authorize us and our payment processor, Stripe, to charge your payment method the then-current price, plus any applicable taxes, at the start of each billing period.

Prices and changes

The price and billing interval are shown before you pay. If we increase the price of your membership, we will notify you by email before the new price takes effect. The new price will apply to your next renewal after the effective date stated in the notice. You may cancel before that renewal if you do not agree to the new price.

How to cancel

You can cancel your membership at any time from your account page or by emailing contact@txlocalweekly.com. Cancellation stops future renewals. Cancel before your renewal date to avoid the next charge. Unless otherwise stated, you will continue to have access through the end of your current paid billing period.

Refunds

Membership payments are non-refundable, including for partly used billing periods, except where the law requires a refund. If you believe you were charged in error, contact us and we will review it.

Failed payments

If a payment fails, we or Stripe may retry the charge and ask you to update your payment method. We may suspend or end membership access if payment remains unpaid.

Promotions and complimentary access

Promotional offers, such as a discounted first month, apply only as described in the offer. Unless the offer says otherwise, your membership renews at the regular price when the promotion ends. Complimentary memberships are not charged, may have an expiration date, have no cash value, and may be ended by us.

Donations and other payments

If you make a donation or other payment through our site, your transaction is processed by Stripe. Stripe’s terms and privacy policy govern payment information they collect. We do not store your full card details on our servers. Donations do not buy a membership and are not refundable except where the law requires it. Donations are not tax deductible unless we tell you otherwise.

Sponsors and businesses

If you submit a business or sponsor our content, you confirm that the information and materials you give us are accurate and that you have the right to use them. If you provide logos, images, text, advertisements, or other materials, you grant Texas Local Weekly a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, display, distribute, and format those materials as reasonably necessary to provide and promote the sponsored content, listing, or Services. We may decline or remove any listing or sponsored content. Sponsored content is labeled, and any separate agreement with you controls if it conflicts with these terms.

AI-assisted content

We use artificial intelligence tools to help create the content we publish, including text and images. AI-assisted content may contain errors or omissions. Our content is for general information only and is not legal, financial, or other professional advice. When making an important decision, verify information with the original public record or relevant government office. Please tell us if you find a mistake.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the Services in any way that violates applicable law
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems, member-only content, other users’ data, or third-party services
• Interfere with or disrupt the Services, including by scraping or overloading our infrastructure
• Copy our content in bulk or use it to train or build AI models without our written permission
• Use the Services to send spam, malware, or harassing content

Content and intellectual property

Articles, graphics, logos, newsletters, and other materials we publish are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws to the extent the law allows. You may read and share links to our content for personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not republish substantial portions of our content, use it for commercial purposes, or remove notices or branding, without our prior written permission.

Your submissions

If you send us poll responses, feedback, story tips, or other material, you allow us to use that material to operate, improve, and report through the Services, without payment to you. We may publish poll responses and feedback in aggregate or anonymous form. We do not publish the identity of a confidential source without permission, except when disclosure is required by law. Please do not send anything you do not have the right to share.

Third-party links and services

The Services link to government sites, sponsors, and other third parties. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content or practices.

Suspension and termination

We may suspend or end your access if you violate these terms or misuse the Services. If we end a paid membership without cause, we will refund the unused part of your current billing period. You may stop using the Services at any time. Sections that by their nature should continue, including those on intellectual property, disclaimers, liability, and governing law, survive termination.

Disclaimer of warranties

The Services and all content are provided “as is” and “as available.” We work to keep information accurate and timely, but we do not warrant that content is complete, current, or error-free, or that the Services will be uninterrupted. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Texas Local Weekly LLC and its owners, employees, and contractors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or data, arising from your use of the Services. Our total liability for any claim arising out of these terms or the Services is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim or (b) one hundred U.S. dollars ($100), if you have not paid us anything.

Indemnity

You agree to defend and indemnify Texas Local Weekly LLC against any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your misuse of the Services or violation of these terms, to the extent permitted by law.

Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. We will post the revised terms on this page and update the “Last Updated” date. If we make material changes, we may notify you by email or by posting a prominent notice on the Services. Continued use of the Services after changes means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. You agree that courts in Texas have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising from these terms or the Services, except where prohibited by law. If any part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest stays in effect.
